Service was good.. and so were the fries...but I am not certain the hockey puck I was served was actually meat. It tasted like a dense flavorless black object that in no way tasted like the thick delicious hamburger I'd make for myself. The chese and bacon were good but the canned mushrooms made me gag a little. Normally fare so bad would be returned to the chef, but I honestly feared my returned burger would have been expectorated upon. I figured cheap diner eats and had no expectations when I went in, however when I left they were lowered...greatly. I just wish someone would teach Nikki to cook a decent hamburger and add a little love...c'est la vie.

Food and personnel in this place are not worth you time and money.. The table was unclean the rag the then used dirty. The food was cooked ( over cooked) in very old oil, the food was just not to be eaten.. Shame the name of this place is what customers feel like after a crappy meal.. Stay away

I had chicken fried steak, my son had the hand spanked burger, and my husband had the Captains platter. All the food was good with the exception of the coconut shrimp which was EXCELLENT. Good friendly service, reasonable prices. I would go again.

Consider the name of this café fair warning. The waitress was indeed grumpy. Although I had heard good reviews, my Belgian waffles were soggy and tough and the turnover was made with shortening and that yucky packaged gel stuff.

We stopped for brunch... Good coffee, great service Then the food came... even better I had poached eggs and toast, with meaty bacon and hash-browns - all perfect My wife had a veggie omelet (her comment a touch too much onion, and she prefers them sauteed), hash-browns and toast Great place for brunch, good service and food

A definite 5-star restaurant! Prices are great for the gigantic portions you'll receive. Beware of the pancakes. They are FREAKING HUGE. Bigger than your face. Order just one, trust me. Unless you haven't eaten in a year or weigh 400 pounds. The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I've had, highly recommend an order of those. Eggs and hashbrowns are cooked to perfection, but the bacon was a little over-done for me. Most folks like crispy bacon, so I won't complain too much on that, especially because it was still delicious and they use nice, big thick slices of bacon, not the shrimpy, pathetic greasy strings we get in Texas. The decor is fun and beachy with painted walls and kites hanging from the ceiling. The service wasn't too grumpy at all, and the natives visiting the restaurant seemed quite happy to be there. Could be the amazing food, or the absolute crap weather on the Oregon Coast that day. We stayed at Tradewinds Motel on Rockaway Beach, which was wonderful and right across the street from Grumpy's Cafe. Win-win!

They try to do a good job. .. but the food is less than desirable. We had a party of 7 and each person was disappointed with their food. Burgers, soup, omelette, french toast, fish and chips and captains platter.

This place is just okay. The only thing that makes me not want to return to this place is the fact that they use canned mushrooms in their dishes. I've only been here twice but I really didn't want to go back a second because of the mushrooms in my omelette but didn't know where else to go for a veggie omelette. Sounds dumb but makes a huge difference! Please use fresh mushrooms!

We came here for breakfast on a slow day. The inside of the place is small but comfortable. Some really tasty-looking, gigantic cinnamon rolls peeped out at me from behind a glass case, but I managed to resist them. I was on vacation, so I ordered the chicken-fried steak, because calories don't count when you're on vacation. Everyone knows this. (Crap, I SHOULD have had a cinnamon roll!) The scrambled eggs were just alright, they definitely tasted like they had been scorched on a HOT HOT grill and unseasoned, but no biggie. The chicken-fried steak itself was great. I think as a product of cooking things on the center of the sun, some of the grease comes out of an otherwise greasy spoon menu. The result was a crispy-fried on the outside, tender on the inside steak nestled in a puddle of pretty good gravy. Hasbrowns were solid as well. All in all, I would call Grumpy's a safe place to get a quick, decent breakfast in a pretty sleepy town during the off-season. Pass the ketchup!

Horrible Horribe service! We waited 20 minutes before I had to ASK the busser to get the ONE ridiculously slow waitress to take our order. But then she immediately helped the people next to us. Are you freaking kidding me! I had to ask twice for a freaking glass of milk! The food is mediocre at best and not worth the wait.

Are you kidding?! This was bad dining, terrible coffee, cold food and sad to see they didn't train their waiter properly. Felt sorry for the waiter. Will not give this a second chance.

Great food, great friendly service, and very kid friendly. Highly recommend when you are in town with family for the beach.

We stopped here for lunch before going on the "candy cane express". Clam chowder was awesome, burgers and home made fries were great, and the staff was very nice. The guy taking the order and running things was very cool with our 2year old son. The lady cooking in the kitchen came out to help a bit and had flower on her hands, since she was in the process of making fresh pies, which also looked very good in the display case as you walk in the front. I'd definitely go here again

We were staying in town and had tried Grumpy's before, when it first opened, so gave it another try. The place has stayed consistent, and did not disappoint. If it were on the beach, it would earn 5 stars, but the atmosphere is pretty pedestrian. Still, the food is why you come here, and it is great. The portions were large and tasty. The prices are ridiculously cheap for what you get. The owners have done a lot of fixing up of this place and the service was not as the name implies, grumpy. In fact, the opposite is the case. Our server was funny and helpful. The coffee is good and if you leave here less than satisfied, your standards are too high. This place is one of the best values on the Oregon Coast.

I have eaten at this place 10-15 times because I have a beach house nearby. Consistently good food for breakfast, lunch, & dinner with friendly prompt service. I especially like the gigantic, crispy edged pancakes & the hamburgers with home-made fries!
